Project Description and useful info

  • ME522 term projects are totally experimental hands-on projects that require the use of microstructural tools like optical microscope and SEM. In some cases thin section petrography may be required, too. Other tools like XRD, DTA, TGA, Sedigraph, Wet chemical methods, etc are also  going to be performed depending on the type of the project.

  • The lab assistant is Ms.Meral Budak (Phone:6612). Mr Mucahit Sutcu (Phone:6612) will also devote some of his time to help you out with your projects.

  • Remember the deadline for choosing your projects is March 25th and the deadline for submission of first report is April 8th.

    • This report should be a collection of the information you obtained from the literature free from plagiarism. Please consult the course assistant for details about the plagiarism policy. Your report should be typewritten with times new roman 12 points character size and a proper format on an A4 paper. There should be a list of references, list of tables, table of contents, etc on your report. You should be prepared to verbally discuss your report with me. I will meet with each of you in my office for 20 minutes to discuss your reports. So it is important that you know what you are typing in your report.

  • deadline for submission of first report's proposal part  is May 6th.

    • A 1-3 page report that explains the proposed experimental program that will be pursued. Materials, method and a time flow chart should be included in this report.

  • deadline for submission of first experimental progress report is May 13th.

    • Work done until May 13th should be reported to the instructor in a proper format.

  • deadline for submission of second experimental progress report is May 20th.

    • Work done until May 20th should be reported to the instructor in a proper format.

  • deadline for submission of third experimental progress report is May 27th.

    • Work done until May 27th should be reported to the instructor in a proper format.

  • deadline for submission of final comprehensive report is June 10th.

    • All work done in the entire project should be reported to the instructor in a proper format. Be prepared to discuss your projects with your instructor.
