The programme offers the degree of Master of Science (MSc) in Environmental Engineering. MSc in Environmental Engineering is an inter-disciplinary program with an emphasis on Environmental Pollution and Control. The program is contributed by faculty from wide variety of fields ranging from life sciences to architectural restoration, providing the students with qualities required to involve in an inter-disciplinary project, which are also the requirements of modern professional life. Some of the master’s projects conducted in the program include environmental effects of geothermal energy, artificial intelligence in modeling atmospheric pollutant concentrations, human health risk assessment of pollutants in drinking water, development of analytical methods to detect rare earth elements, monitoring semi-volatile organic compounds such as polychlorinated bi-phenyls and organochlorine pesticides in ambient air, treatment of domestic and industrial wastewater, and flue gases, and so on. Study of physical, chemical, and biological processes are fundamental, and necessary to comprehend environmental fate and engineered treatment of contaminants. Students acquire expertise in fate and mass transport of pollutants in the environment, and engineering processes involved industrial pollution control.

The program aims at involving its students in interdisciplinary research that bridge science, engineering, and application in air, water, and soil pollution problems, and provide them with sound theoretical and practical background to identify and solve current and future environmental problems associated with management and development of air and water resources. Overall goal of the program is to provide the student with skills and tools they need to understand the fundamentals of the environmental issues, and to tackle challanges in combining environmental science and technology. The head of the program is Sait C. Sofuoğlu, PhD.
