İzmir Institute of Technology, Department of Architectural Restoration is founded in 1994. The program aims at establishing an interdisciplinary approach for education, research and application in the field of conservation of historical buildings. The Materials Conservation Laboratory was established to carry out studies on characterization and treatment of historic building materials. Meanwhile, equipment necessary for the measured survey of historical buildings is being provided within Central Surveying and Topography Laboratory of the Faculty of Architecture.
